The following post is about the extended opening hours of the Student Lounge until 2 am on certain days. Read the post for more information. Thank you.


Dear Students of IMU,

The SRC and SSD are glad to inform you that with effective 3rd November 2011 the Student Lounge Opening Hours will be extended to 2am. This is only applicable to Thursday’s, Friday’s, Saturday’s and Sunday’s. As for the remaining days, the Student Lounge will close at 12am.

This arrangement is only for a trial period of ONE MONTH from Thursday, the 3rd of November until Sunday, the 4th of December. We still have to cross a few obstacles before this arrangement is made permanent. If we are able to follow the criteria during this trial period, then the Student Lounge will be permanently open until 2am on the four days as stated above.

The criteria are as listed below:

1) The Student Lounge will only be open until 2am on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
2) There must not be any damage to the equipment in the Student Lounge.
3) Only IMU STUDENTS are allowed to enter the Student Lounge especially on weekends.
4) Students should walk safely while walking back to Vista or their cars after 12.00 am onwards until 2 am and should not be harmed in any way while walking back during the trial period.


If any of these criteria are not adhered to during the trial period, this TEMPORARY arrangement will not be allowed to be made permanent and students will not be able to enjoy the benefits of extended Student Lounge opening hours.

So, students of IMU, the SRC has once again listened to your concerns and have acted upon them. Also I would like to stress on the importance on student safety once you guys leave the Student Lounge from 12am onwards, since it’s the main concern of the SRC and the SSD while agreeing to make this change and allow the trial period. Please try
to travel in packs or groups when leaving and STAY SAFE.

Feedback (on questions) from Ms. Liza

Messages to all the JPA scholars from Ms. Liza ,

1. The blazer measurement is confirmed on 3rd of December. The measurement will be conducted together with scholars from M209 batch.

2. The allowance for semester 5 remains the same as previous semesters.

3. The exact amount of allowance when studying in UK is not known, but it will be given out every 3 months once.

4. The processing fees for visa application can claim back from JPA.

5. Regarding the certificate of verification as a scholars (in order to get discount in applying or renewing passport), she will ask JPA officer and let us know asap.

6. BTN : I have already talked to her of arranging it on the date after 9th of March. The issue is the Resit Examination ( which we shall discuss it later).

The Starting Date of Semester 6 in UoS

The starting date will be 6^th June as per the following mail from UoS.

The news I got from Senior (MP batch of P109) is they arrived in Glasgow on Wednesday and they classes started only on next week Monday. So don't worry so much as we are given sufficient time and guidance to prepare all those miscellaneous matters( such as dealing with bank, phone call service)

Hi everybody, I'm Alicia from CrusAIDSers. As a club, we are dedicated to raising awareness about HIV and AIDS as well as to reducing the stigma that stems from a lack of understanding of the disease.

In partnership with other universities and organizations dedicated to the same cause, we will be organizing an event called 'It Begins With You'.

It will be one of the biggest AIDS awareness campaign of the year so we request your help as volunteers. The volunteers will be helping to man the booth, get signatures on sandwich boards and participate in the flash mob! Each of the volunteers will receive a t-shirt as thanks for participating, and there will be fun and games and food and performances that everyone can enjoy. Tentatively we might have one practice for the flash mob but we will soon post a video of the dance up so you can learn it yourself in the comfort of your own home!
